Trail Kit

I am very much a creature of habit when I hit the trails to the point of mild OCD. I am also a stickler for asking loads of questions about a new piece of kit that I think I need – it took me almost 2 weeks to plump for my ideal hydration pack – an UltrAspire Surge backpack.

My trail kit includes:

Food (the real kind) – granola bars, dates filled with almond butter & pecan nuts, malt loaf, a few jelly babies and my homemade flapjacks.

Hydration bladder filled within my UltrAspire Surge backpack & a soft flask filled with Tailwind sachet for longer runs in my front pocket. This is what I liked about the Surge over all the others I looked at and you guessed it, I looked at a fair few! It has 2 pockets up front for easy access to food/water. It also has magnetic opening pockets that assist when my fingers decide they are too cold & my Raynaud’s kicks in or “freaky fingers” as I lovingly call them.

A good sports bra – Shock Absorber or similar.

I’m currently running in Brooks Cascadias for the trails with Brooks Ravenna’s being used for road runs.

Full leggings for winter – shorts & compression socks for summer.

T-shirt worn with removable sleeves during the winter alongside my Montane lightweight running jacket. This then folds up very easily into one of the pockets within my hydration pack. Summer months I do like to take my Sweaty Betty vest top out of hibernation!

I’m liking my new More Mile socks at the moment, pack of 5 that are great value for money.

Accessories that come with me as the weather dictates are: Ronhill gloves, my Buff, a Hoka visor or Inov-8 cap and my Garmin Fenix 3 HR watch.

I would love to hear what you take out on your runs, any new gadgets, pieces of fab kit or even more food suggestions would be greatly appreciated. See you on the trails…..
